SLC, UT -Our loving Husband, Son, Brother and Uncle, Lawrence (Larry) Strom Blunk, passed from this earth April 25, 2016, after a long and courageously fought illness. Born May 18, 1957 in Salt Lake City to Lawrence Silas and Betty Strom Blunk. Larry is survived by his spouse, Rick Burke, his father, Lawrence, sisters Sharon (Robert), and Susan (Bruce), 8 nieces, 2 nephews, 8 grandnieces and 12 grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Betty. Larry is a graduate of Highland High School and had a love for learning. He was a professional Realtor in both Utah and California. In recent years, he was his father's sole caregiver. Larry's pure love and endless dedication to his father is a true testament of his character. The two of them were truly the best of friends. Larry married the love of his life, Rick Burke, on December 26, 2013. They have enjoyed 24 years together. Larry had a deep love of the ocean, for southern California, and the city of Laguna Beach, where he and Rick made their home for 8 years. Those years spent in Laguna were the happiest of his life. Surrounded by the beach he loved and his countless friends. Larry became known as the neighborhood "welcome wagon," sharing his zest for life and witty conversation with everyone. Larry will once again be in his beloved Laguna Beach, as his remains will be taken home to forever be by the sea. All family and friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of his life at the Blunk-Burke home, 1757 Park Street in Salt Lake City, on May 14th from 1-3pm. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the many caregivers at St. Marks Hospital, for their kindness, support and loving care of Larry and our family.
